Simon Wadley

Simon has eighteen years of detailed planning and operational experience with the Olympic Games and has been engaged in every Olympic Games and Olympic Torch Relay since Sydney 2000.
Simon brought seven years of experience in finance and accounting to the Sydney Olympic Games Organizing Committee (SOCOG) in 1995 as a Senior Business Planner within the Project Management team, where he was engaged in a variety of marketing and operational roles through five years with Sydney 2000. Following Sydney Simon joined Além and has relocated to each summer and winter Olympic Games city to work with the Olympic Torch Relay. He has been engaged in relay planning and operational roles at nine Olympics, three Pan American Games and two Youth Olympic Games. He brings great practical expertise to all stakeholders, ranging from communities, sponsors, Organising Committees, IOC, media, volunteers and other partners.
Simon has held varied roles in recent Olympic Torch Relays. For Sochi 2014 Simon managed the marketing program for Relay Presenting Partner Ingosstrakh, where he led a team of over sixty, implementing marketing activities across Russia over the entire 123 day route. In Rio de Janeiro Simon was Operations Director for the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay, responsible for all planning and operations of this 95 day event visiting over 330 cities across Brazil. Simon worked with IOC TOP partners including, Bridgestone, Dow and Visa for torchbearer programs for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Torch Relay and is currently consulting to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay.
Simon received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Sydney, a Master of Economics from Macquarie University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
